One does not transcend the ego by bypassing, which is denial, or annihilating, which is aggression, the ego. Transcendance of the ego is integration of the ego into the orb of Presence Itself. Do not flee the ego, are you will always be running away, never to get away. Do not try to kill the ego, or you will always be fighting, and you will never win. The fleeing and the fighting are both egoic means to escape egocentricity, and that is the futility of the whole effort. The effort itself is the effort of egocentricity. Cease the fleeing and fighting. The Enlightened man or woman plunges into the world, including the full embrace of all he or she is, including the sensation called ego. Ego sees itself as presence of Presence Itself.

To move through, or dissolve, the confusion within mind, the confusion is to be seen and felt nonaggressively. This confusion is not a foe to be overcome or be struggled against. Rather, be with it. This confusion itself is the manifestation of Enlightened Wisdom; egoic confusion holds within itself pristine Clarity. Compassionate, calm attention, literally a befriending of the confusion, allows the unfolding of the Clarity. Insight and confusion are not opposites. While insight is the more subtle, one need not overcome confusion, demonize confusion, or project a need to be free of it. Smile at the confusion, let it dance, and, remember, smile. You will discover confusion is rich soil for Clarity and Compassion.

The Master was asked by a disciple, "Master, what is God?" Replied the Master, "What is before the question, 'Where is God'?"
